Exciting race weekend – Tassi on the winners podium

Attila Tassi again stands on the winners’ podium

Budapest, May 20th, 2018. There’s another race weekend at the Touring Car European Championship. This time Attila Tassi started in Zandvoort in the colors of the HELL ENERGY Racing Team with KCMG, after leaving his biggest competitors in the dust, sweeping the laps to be able to stand once more on the winners’ podium.

Attila Tassi had a hard start in the 2018 season: in the first race there were problems with his car, and his race was made all the harder by a fever, caused by a virus, so that he was able to finish the race in 6th place.  The Zandvoort race was not without its difficulties either: because the WTCR and TCR Europe races alternate over the course of the weekend, there were a huge number of attendees going with interest to the Dutch racetrack.  The huge amount of traffic caused a large jam, leaving Tassi unable to proceed on the freeway, until finally a motorcycle came to help him get to the race – even so, he just made it to the racetrack in time for the start of the first round.  This small hiccup didn’t upset the young talent in the slightest, and he already started to do well on warm-up laps.  In his qualifying laps he came in 3rd, so that he was able to start in a very favorable position Sunday afternoon.  At the start of the round, van Lagen, who had started in first, fell back to 4th place, so that Tassi was able to improve his position by one, and by maintaining that position for the whole race, Tassi ended up standing on the second level of the podium.

“I’m thrilled to finally be able to show what I’m capable of.  I feel that we’re finally starting to be able to adjust the car to me, and I’m also getting more and more in tune with the season.  Now that I wasn’t even ill, I could really enjoy the round, which I think you can see in my results.  Of course I’m not totally happy, but I think that I was able to bring out the maximum from myself and my car,” said Tassi, who is looking forward to Monday’s race with excitement.

Tassi’s teammate, Josh Files, qualified in 7th position, then made it to the 4th in the first round.  On Monday the round will start with reversed starts, so that Tassi will start in 8th, while Files will start from 4th.  The race will be broadcast live by the Sport 2 channel from 2:55 p.m.
