Attila Tassi debuts at the starting line with his new team this year at the WTCR- The new Honda is seen first by home audiences
Budapest, April 28, 2018, The WTCR Hungaroring race is finally here. Audiences of the first Friday race of the weekend event were welcomed by bright sunshine and a great atmosphere. Apart from the nice weather, an exciting race was also guaranteed, the competitors were eager to get to the starting line. The Hungarian audience had plenty to be excited about, as 5 of our competitors entered today’s race, among them, Attila Tassi of HELL ENERGY Racing Team with KCMG.
The 2018 World Touring Car Cup’s weekend races on the Hungarian track were opened Thursday morning with a press conference. After the protocol event passed in good spirits, the 6 participating competitors Attila Tassi, Norbert Michelisz, Norbert Nagy, Zsolt Dávid Szabó, Mat’o Homola, Pepe Oriola and Francois Ribeiro, head of the Eurosport Events motorsports department relaxed on the Budapest Eye before the exciting weekend.
Friday at Hungaroring was about getting to know one another, the mechanics were working at top speed on the final details, the paddock was finished and we could meet up with the drivers for some interviews, photos or autographs.
Attila Tassi and his new team that was announced this week, KC Motorgroup, stood at the starting line wearing HELL ENERGY colors. The wildcard competitor told us before the race how he feels this will be a great opportunity to practice:
“I haven’t met the new team yet, this weekend will be the first time we work together, so I think this is a great opportunity to get to know one another a little better and also to get a feel for the car and see what it can do on the track,” said Attila, full of competitive spirit at the Thursday press conference, so his great determination at the (for now) zero-sum event should come as no surprise.
“I do all I can to bring out the best in myself and my car, but I know the competition is going to be really tight and it will be a bit more challenging compared to last year’s team as we are not communicating in my native language. Even though we understand one another perfectly, I have to pay extra attention to my teammates’ instructions,” said Tassi before Friday’s first race.
Attila made his getaway from the 22nd position on the first race of the weekend. Even though Tassi and the team gave their best, this only got them to 19th place in the especially tight competition at Saturday’s race.
“Last year, I was able to win both races at the TCR championship at Hungaroring, so I was hoping for similar results this year. This year’s car is very different, though, which means several changes had to be made. We haven’t gotten the desired results yet, but I am optimistic about tomorrow. After this morning’s qualifying session we have two races ahead of us and I plan on giving everything I got.” said Tassi after the first race of the weekend.
After this, Sunday, where Tassi will compete in two races, looks even more exciting.
